# Manage Alter in ChatGPT

Hey everyone,

This week, Alter is coming to ChatGPT.

You can now ask ChatGPT to find a meeting in Alter, read its transcript, run one of your saved Actions, or pick up an Alter conversation. Alter runs the tools on your Mac and brings the results back into ChatGPT.

**How it works**

1. Turn on MCP Gateway in Alter and choose which capabilities ChatGPT can access.
2. In Alter, choose **Install ChatGPT plugin…** to add it to your personal marketplace.
3. In ChatGPT, install Alter from **Settings → Apps → Personal**, then ask for what you need.

For example: *“List my recent meetings in Alter”* or *“Find the meeting where we discussed our product launch.”*

**What you can do**

- **Find and read meetings:** list recent meetings, search by topic, and read transcripts.
- **Run saved Actions:** discover and run the Actions you’ve enabled for the gateway.
- **Continue a conversation:** find permitted Alter conversations and pick up where you left off, or start a new one.

Your meetings, Actions, and conversations stay in Alter. ChatGPT gives you another way to work with them.

- **MCP server**: Alter now runs an MCP server on your Mac for other AI agents. From Settings → Gateways, copy a private URL and connect any compatible agent. You choose what it can access: transcripts, transcript-ready notifications, saved actions, chat, and conversation history. Meetings, actions, and conversations stay on your Mac.
- **ChatGPT plugin**: The ChatGPT plugin uses this MCP server. Install Alter in the ChatGPT desktop app, or connect it on the web. ChatGPT can search meetings, read transcripts, run permitted saved actions, and open Alter conversations.
- **Flow and Computer Use**: When Computer Use is not already attached, Flow can hand a visible UI task to Computer Use instead of assembling screen steps itself.
- **Conversation startup**: The first message appears sooner!

### Bug Fixes & Stability

- **Workspaces**: Fixed a crash when adding a capability to a workspace.
- **Tools**: Fix a crash in the Local Tools gallery
- **Context images**: User context images stay inside the context strip, and attachment images are prepared before they are sent.
- **Hub**: Fix a crash on switching tabs.
- **Conversations**: Fix a crash when closing a tab when editing a message.
- **Actions**: Fix create action from the chat.
- **Transcripts**: The sticky speaker picker stays in place while you assign speakers.
- **Metadata**: Title and summary generation better handle retries when generation fails.
