🔌 Connect Alter with WhatsApp & thousands of Apple Shortcuts

Plus: API Calls integration with Make, N8N, Relay & Zapier — automate everything

Hey everyone,

Our dream to automate everything and never have to work again is getting closer and closer after each release. This week, we integrate Apple Shortcuts (and something else :)

Apple Shortcuts allows you to invoke specific features of your apps.

For example, in this video I show you how I can now send WhatsApp messages from Alter of my last Alter Conversation.

How It Works

The new Shortcuts integration appears as a new option in your Quick Actions menu.

Users with access to the “Tool Early Preview” can also add any Apple Shortcuts as a tool.

 Setting up is simple:

  1. Go to Quick Actions and click to add a shortcut

  2. Link to an existing Apple Shortcut

  3. Give it a descriptive title and explanation so Alter knows when to use it

  4. Add it to your Local Tools

  5. Alter can now execute Shortcuts both in a discussion and as an exit action!

Going Further: Supercharge Your Workflow with Global Shortcuts + Quick Actions

Combine global keyboard shortcuts with Alter to create workflows that actually save you time (not just promise to)

This combo lets you skip the tedious parts and get straight to what matters

Here's how to set up this automation magic:

  1. Create an Alter Action in the Action Editor (like "tell me a joke original")

  2. Configure the Action to always end with a specific Quick Action (like "WhatsApp to myself")

  3. Assign a global keyboard shortcut to this Action

Once set up, magic happens with a single keystroke:

  • Your predefined prompt runs immediately

  • The AI generates the requested content

  • The Quick Action automatically sends the result to WhatsApp (or any configured destination)

  • All without you needing to type a single word or click any buttons!

This workflow is perfect for recurring tasks like:

- Sending daily summaries to your team

- Creating social media content on a schedule

- Generating meeting notes and distributing them

- Sending personalized messages to loved ones

One more thing

Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers.

You can now invoke API Calls as a quick action!

Now you can trigger any workflow directly from Alter - send data to your favorite automation platforms without switching contexts.

Just use the “Send to Webhook” Quick Actions.
