Hub Preview Tabs (VS Code style)

Hey everyone,

Alter 2.0.0-beta109 is a community quality-of-life release. We took your feedback and shipped the Hub behavior a lot of you asked for, plus a new way for agents to actually read the links you send them.

Hub preview tabs, VS Code style

Hub tabs now open in preview mode, the same way VS Code does.

Click a chat or meeting in the sidebar and it opens as a preview. Open another item and the preview is replaced, instead of stacking a new tab every time. Double click or start typing when you want it to stay.

This should make browsing the Hub feel a lot less noisy.

Read Link

Agents can now fetch and read a URL with the new Read Link tool.

It works with web pages, Markdown, HTML, images (PNG/JPEG/WebP), and documents (PDF/DOCX/XLSX). Paste a link, ask Alter to read it, and the agent gets the content for you.

It’s limited to public available content. For content behind a login, Computer use or directly adding the context with AppSense is the preferred way.

Generate titles from the sidebar

Right-click a chat or meeting in the Hub sidebar and choose Generate title to regenerate it from context.

We also fixed title generation and meeting short summaries not running in some cases.

New models

Gemini 3.8 Flash, Cerebras Qwen 3.8 27B, Qwen 3.8 Flash, GLM 5.3, and GLM 5.3 Flash are now available.
