Hey everyone,

What is Scheduled Tasks?

Scheduled Tasks allows you to automate any Alter Action to run on a predetermined schedule – hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly. Your AI assistant becomes your personal scheduler, delivering insights and completing actions at precisely the right moment.

Meet Morning Briefing: Your Day Starts Here

Introducing Morning Briefing – a built-in Alter Action that revolutionizes how you start your workday:

  1. Email & Calendar Sync: Automatically checks your inbox and calendar

  2. Smart Priorities: Identifies your top three priorities for the day

  3. Apple Reminders Integration: Converts priorities into actionable reminders

  4. Schedule Overview: Displays your complete day at a glance

Imagine waking up to a comprehensive briefing that tells you exactly what matters today – no scrolling, no decision fatigue.

And like any Alter Action, you can modify it to work the way you want.

Real-World Scenarios: Scheduled Tasks in Action

  1. Daily Morning Briefing: Set Morning Briefing to run every day at 9 AM. Start your day informed and organized.

  2. Weekly Project Updates: Schedule a custom action to compile your project progress every Friday at 5 PM.

  3. Hourly Notifications: Get real-time updates on critical metrics or tasks throughout your workday.

  4. Monthly Reports: Automate comprehensive summaries delivered to your inbox on the first day of each month.

How to Set Up Scheduled Tasks

  1. Open the Alter Action Editor from your menu bar or using the shortcut cmd+shift+E

  2. Select or create an action

  3. Click on “Add Schedule” in General table

  4. Choose your frequency: Hourly, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly

  5. Set your preferred time

  6. Add multiple schedules for the same action if needed

3 Scheduled Task Ideas

  1. Weekly Team Standup Summary Automatically compile a summary of your completed tasks, in-progress work, and blockers every Friday at 4 PM. The action gathers information from your calendar, emails, and project management tools to generate a ready-to-share standup report that you can paste directly into your team communication channel.

  2. Daily Focus Time Blocker Schedule an action that runs every weekday at 8:30 AM to automatically block 90-minute focus time slots on your calendar, send a "do not disturb" notification to your team, and create a focused work environment by silencing notifications and opening your primary work application.

  3. Monthly Expense & Time Tracking Report Set up an automated action to run on the last day of each month that compiles your time entries, expense receipts, and billable hours into a comprehensive report. The action categorizes spending by project, calculates totals, and generates an exportable summary for accounting or client invoicing purposes.

We're excited to see what you'll automate with Alter Schedules Jobs! T
