Inline Edition in Alter

Hey everyone,

This week we're changing how you refine what the AI writes.

Inline Edition is here: select any part of a text and act on it directly — edit it, comment on it, or run an Action — without going back into the chat.

How it works

  1. Interact in Alter in the Hub or QuickHub.
  2. Select the part you want to change , a small menu appears with multiple options or click on ... to see your inline Alter Action
Selecting text in Quick hub or the Hub displays the Inline Editor

Custom Actions in the editor
Any Alter Action can now run directly on a selection. Enable it once in the Tools Manager and it's available everywhere you select text in Alter.

Any Alter Action can be shown in the Inline Editor

Why it matters
Working with AI output used to be binary: accept the answer, or restart a conversation to say what to change. Inline Edition removes that round trip. You treat output like a working document — select, edit, comment — the same way you would a draft written by a human. Crystal clear, even for people who don't live in the AI world.

Cheers,
Sam & Olivier
